Cursor Hackathon UCC — Recap

The second Cursor Ghana campus hackathon — an overnight build at the University of Cape Coast with CSITSA. Two hundred twenty-four students checked in, twenty-five projects shipped, and winners tackled compliance, accessibility, and disaster preparedness.

We hosted the second edition of the Cursor Ghana Campus Hackathon at the University of Cape Coast in partnership with the Computer Science and Information Technology Students Association (CSITSA).

The overnight format created an exciting builder experience, bringing together 224 students who collaborated, built, and showcased AI-powered solutions to real-world problems.

Some highlights: 440 registrations and 434 approved participants; 224 students checked in; 25 projects submitted; 70+ students joined the Cursor UCC Campus Community; and 76% of registrants were participating in their first hackathon.

The winning projects tackled practical challenges in business compliance, accessibility, and disaster preparedness:

🥇 First place — LexGH An AI-powered business compliance platform for entrepreneurs in Ghana.

🥈 Second place — Kasa AI An AI voice assistant improving smartphone accessibility for blind and visually impaired users.

🥉 Third place — Flood Guard A community-focused platform providing flood risk information and emergency preparedness tools.

This is now our second successful campus hackathon after KNUST, giving us confidence that we've developed a repeatable university engagement model for introducing students to Cursor while growing local builder communities.
